Dr. Sonneveld is pleased to offer specialized orthodontic treatment to adolescents and teens. Teens between the ages of 11 and 15 have specific orthodontic needs, as this is the period of time when their permanent teeth are settling into the mouth and jaw. Whether your child is beginning their orthodontic care or continuing their treatment plan, our team of specialists can help perfect your child’s smile.
First Time Orthodontic Treatment for Adolescents
Adolescence is the perfect time to begin orthodontic treatment at Sonneveld Orthodontics! By the age of 12, most children’s permanent teeth have erupted, making it a great time to use braces to straighten out their smile. Between the ages of 11 and 15, as the child’s permanent teeth move into place, crooked teeth, gaps, and bad bites can be detected and treated. Dr. Sonneveld will assess your child’s teeth, and create a personalized treatment plan to help shape their bite.
Ongoing Adolescent Treatment at Sonneveld Orthodontics
If your child has begun earlier care at Sonneveld Orthodontics, we recommend that patients start Phase II of their treatment between the ages of 11 and 15. This phase of the treatment involves adhering braces to the patient’s teeth, in order to straighten or realign the teeth and jaw. In addition to traditional metal braces, we also offer clear, ceramic braces and Invisalign Teen treatments to patients at our Orland Park, IL office.
